It’s a scary situation when you find that your business’ online existence has been grounded.
There are two kinds of suspensions, a “soft” suspension and hard one. A “soft” suspension marks your business as suspended, but you still show up in search results. It typically requires reclaiming and/or reverifying the listing with a new Google account to get back online again. While a ”hard” suspension will remove your business listing from search results.
What can I do to avoid my listing being suspended?
Google has a zero tolerance policy for business listings that are deemed suspicious or in violation of their policies. While the company will not officially disclose what these reasons are, there is usually an event where they occur and it can be anything from spammy listing activity or questionable keywords that trigger their algorithms. Update your basic business info such as business name, address, website URL, and make sure they are correct. Some of the other reasons for violations may include a forwarding phone number or multiple business from the same location.
I’ve had trouble with my Google listing. What can I do?
In order to lift your listing out of suspension, you may be required to provide proof that shows the business is legitimate. This may include a business license, photos of the business including the logo near the entrance. Contact Google My Business Support and they will let you know exactly what they will want to see as evidence of your legitimate business.
